Behind the Scenes of Homecoming Royalty By: Mary R. Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, and the Courts, we put our votes in for the homecoming Royals at LANV. At the beginning of the year, the student body put the nominations in for who we wanted to see at “Under the Sea” homecoming. Then, the poll came out to vote for who we wanted to see crowned and sashed. Finally, most of the students, mentors, and staff went to homecoming and watched the winners be crowned, but there are a couple questions on how the event and the election came to life. Who is behind the election? Who runs homecoming? Is this a popularity vote or is it a fair running ground? Do we need more advertisement?
The voting process commences when the polls start to go out for nominating the Court. After the nominations come in, the votes get tallied and they take 3-4 nominee’s names to put on another poll that comes out. We would like to give a shout out to the nominee’s JC, Logan, Ben, Toby, Sadie, Samantha, Tierra , Sebastian, Ford, Ronin, Samara, Delaney, Emily, Coleman, Ethan, Brooks, Gracie, Shaley, Megan, Travis, Caleb, Judah, Eden, Maya, Isabel, and Jocelyn Then, the students of LANV go to homecoming and wait in anticipation to find out who won the spots. Most of the people who won are very outgoing or everyone knows their name. From my research, this is one of the biggest contributors to their crowning.
All in all, the night was special to the Royals, and the students, but, more importantly, it will leave a lasting memory for those who went. The most important thing that should change for next year is advertisement. If you want to get nominated, try going to the school events and putting your name out there. People that go always wish they would have lived in the present. The people that didn’t go wish they would have so they could have enjoyed the day with their friends. Next time, don’t think about others and what they think, but your feelings and your own enjoyment.
