By: Rhys Did you know that LANV doesn’t have any sports teams? However, you’d be surprised by how many LANV students play sports. Some participate in sports through a nearby school, and others compete individually. I interviewed five of these talented students, and now I get to introduce them to you. Leah is an 8th grader who competes in dressage, which is a form of horseback riding, and she has placed in 4th at a championship show. An inspirational quote from her is “If it’s hard at first, or maybe a little boring, stick with it for a while to make a final decision on whether you like it or not”.
Eli C is a 9th grader whose favorite sport is baseball, and he participates in the team at Arbor View High School. He once hit a homerun into a parking lot, which ended up breaking a car window. When asked about staying involved in a sport, Eli said, “Even when it looks like you’re struggling, work hard. Work even harder than ever before and know that it will make a difference eventually. There aren’t huge changes that will happen instantly. Work hard, and if you really desire the things you are working towards, then you will get there”. Even though LANV doesn’t have any sports teams, we should be proud of all the sports players in this school for getting up out of their seats and pursuing an athletic life. They are the leaders in this school for those who are interested in playing sports or pursuing other interests and hobbies. All five of the interviewees agreed on one thing about sports: when you are struggling in the sport that you want to pursue, don’t stop. Keep going, even when it gets a little hard.
