LANV Celebrates the Holiday SeasonBy: Brooklyn LANV celebrated the holiday season through an online event where they did many activities to entertain the staff and students. They watched a movie called “The Emperor’s New Groove” and played games including the game “Gartic Phone.” Avery Capson mentioned that she “enjoyed playing the games.” ![]() Many students say they enjoyed the whole event and could not think of something else they would have liked to see there. One student, Ethan (10th), did say he would have liked to see more people stay, because he noticed that a lot of people left about halfway through the activity. This might have been because there weren't things at the event that some people wanted to do. If there is something you would like to see happen at an event in the future please email Mrs. Laputz with your ideas. Most people's favorite part of the event was playing the game “Gartic Phone.” Ethan also said “My favorite part is when we played Gartic Phone, a game where you write a prompt, which is then given to another person to draw a picture based upon your prompt, and then somebody else has to guess the prompt based on the picture, and it goes on for a while.” This was a fun and interesting game for everyone that played or even just watched. Many students also enjoyed the movie “The Emperor’s New Groove.” This is a Disney movie Inspired by ancient Peruvian culture and set in an Incan empire. “The Emperor's New Groove follows young and self-centered Emperor Kuzco. Kuzco is transformed into a llama by his power-hungry advisor -- the devious diva Yzma. Stranded in the jungle, Kuzco's only chance to get back home and reclaim the high life rests with a good-hearted peasant named Pacha. Together, they must return Kuzco to the throne before Yzma tracks them down and finishes him off. In 2018, “The Emperor's New Groove'' was named the 16th-best Disney animated film by IGN, and the 27th by Rotten Tomatoes in November 2022.”(Allers et al.) Overall the Holiday event went very well. All the students and staff had a good time playing games and watching the movie. We hope to see you all at other events throughout the year. Check the LANV website to find out when and where you can find and attend our online and in-person events.
